Tuesday 7th June Websites

7 min readUpdated January 8, 2026

Wez is up against people's preconcieved idea of what a website is.

doesn't need to be flashy, creative, innovative.

this comes from years of testing - he's done at least 20 websites.

a website that makes more dollar bucks $$

Wez is super biast and is talking about the way that works consistently.

the most consistent, predictible way to get it to work.

2 platforms - Wordpress and Shopify.
wouldn't be playing around with anything else.

Wordpress is the simplist but can be the most complex.

Sell products - ecomm - it's just shopify. (not better off with wordpress and woocommerce)

shopify is the ultimate tool to do purchases if you do ecommerce. You lose functionality because you can't customise it much. but it works.

shopify is more per month, $200 but it's worth it.

Wordpress tech stack: Wordpress is skeleton and Elementor is skin.
Elementor Pro (preeminant company for staying up to day with what looks good, what's working etc)
makes web development faster - you should not be building your own site - those days are gone (10 years ago you could)
Gravity Forms
Active Campaign
Woocommerce

if you're struggling spending money on a website, you're stuggling to be in business.
get a few K together to get a good site.

find the way to find the money to do a really good website.

Gravity Forms is still the best form builder available. makes forms look really nice on front end but on back end it lets you do really cool things without custom coding.

have a form on every page.
Have any questions? fill in the form and we will get back to you in one business day.

Active Campaign gets the info from Gravity Forms.

Woocommerce is great if you're just selling a handful of products as part of your business. or you need to take payments on your Wordpress website - Woocommerce is a great option for that. For big ecommerce shops, use Shopify. Woocommerce is nice and clean when it's just a handful of products.

Zapier can take data from one application and put it in another - eg Gravity forms to Zapier, or Facebook to Active Campaign (when someone joins a group. - get their email address - then you can send from Active Campaign to them)

Wez teaches so you can hold your web developer accountable to do it your way.

Layout is really important LOGO top left corner - that's where the logo goes.
phone number top right. Menu bar. we don't do left hand menu bars.
video - anchor piece of your website - home page video.
build rapport
put face to name
length of video should be tied to gravity of purchase -
$6 purchase - short video
$600000 purchase - 3-4 minutes - punchy, impactful, build rapport.
predominatinatly headshot video - get those teeth out - let people see your teeth, smile,
smile - people will believe that you believe it's a good product. more people will do business with you on your website.
beside video - build rapport with video and get accross what makes you unique.
include in the video what makes you unique.
for opt in (a short sentence of what makes you unique) eg. Fastest company in the west.
or put Opt in there - value opt in. OPT IN or SHORT Uniqueness sentence, make it REALLY clear.
it's not about you and what you like. It's about the customer because it's always about the customer. When the customer arrives at your website you have to treat them like they're not the sharpest tool in the shed - you have to make it really really really clear where they should go.
they are thinking the same thing - everybody is thinking - "where do I go?"
the ultimate strategy - the 3 rabbit holes.
this is where we speak to the 3 biggest needs, or people groups. this is where we address "where do I go.
We make it really clear and really plain so there is no room for error.
video is about what makes us unique as a company
the rabbit holes divide up your services into what visitor is looking into
I need.... I need... I need...
the main 3 in rabbit holes. The services menu item can have more.
more rabbit holes is called confusion.
One rabbit hole is a mistake.
text, pretty pictures, testimonials under rabbit holes

our video:

this is the stuff that makes the money.

form fills and phone calls - conversion goals. these are the two that really matter.

5 years ago - better to learn your own digital marketing
now - better to hire someone else to do it- it's a specialist skillset now. it's become better, but more skilled. it's never ever one person now. can't even hire a marketing manager to do it all now. it's too much.

have to find an agency partner to jump in with to be able to do all this.

good cost for Website - $3000 to $5000 for a basic website. you are going to have it for 2 years.
we are progressing and advancing so quickly.

best practice spend $3000 - $5000 every two years.

finding an agency. Someone you can trust, hold them highly accountable. Someone who understands these things.

creative flair enough to make it work, not enough to ruin the conversion experience.

have a studio, a production person, and write a script. (20 mins for 10 points)

in the best interests of the client.
